I am a Queen City native, a wife of nine years to the sweetest man, Brandon, and a mom to two boys (Laef and Atlas). These three have my soul.
My background includes a lot of music, a little dance, a good amount of travel (my entire childhood and teen years), a few wonderful years of wedding apparel sales, and art. I also have a degree in ministry. And in 2007, my husband bought me a camera and believed in me. I was mentored and trained and spent years as an assistant photographer (second shooting) with professional photographers before I ever did it on my own.
I’ve been thinking long and hard about what to write about myself as an artist without sounding like yet another photographer that loves being a mom, drinking coffee, traveling adventures, music playing loudly, family days together, and sitting in silence. (If you have kids, you might really love that last one.) Those things are really great things, and I do thoroughly enjoy them. But we are all deeper individuals, ever-changing, on our own journeys, and we’re all unique. The things that we all share in common often unite us, but it’s the contrast and diversity—those things that make us unique—that make us shine.
My journey into the world of photography and art has been all about process. It has been a continual investigation and discovery into how I view life—how I see and process the beautiful, and the mundane. I love the idea of being able to seek out, capture, and highlight, through my photography, the vibrant beauty that abounds in the midst of both the good days and the hard days. Photography has always been a sweet place for my heart to find and express color, emotion, and feeling.
Finding the right photographer is all about how you see beauty and connection. There isn’t a right way or wrong way to see beauty, but some photographers, more than others, are able to capture beauty in a way that you can connect with and really appreciate.
Thank you so much for taking the time to look at my work. If you like what you see, get in touch with me! I’d love to get a note from you!
